Well,
Here's how the game goes. (Rules lifted from the aforementioned worthy.)
Item the First: This journal will feature 10 artists. I will add the first 9 people to comment on this journal to the Promotional List.
Item the Second For each of those 9 people, I will put their avatar and three deviations I like from their gallery on the list.
Item the Third If I feature you, you'll have to do the same in your journal, putting me in first place, completing the list with 9 people in this way. That way you get a total of 10, yay!
Originally, it was 14 commenters, making a total of 15 featured. If there's that much response, I'll bump the number up. Heck, I'll put something up for everyone who wants one.
As VF originally said: it's not about features, it's about spreading around new art for everyone. Because, really, who doesn't enjoy finding some new bit of amazing, or getting a comment from a new face.
So what're you waiting for? Get on in here!
1.
I once called VaguelyFamiliar "the Saint of Softcore." She's got a flair for the sensual and decadent, not to mention the erotic. She's also got damn fine anatomy skills, to the point where scars and intricate hand positions seem to register as a "no big."
Sunset, Starlight is a great representative of VF's work: clear, clean lines and creamy colors. It's also got the powerful emotional draw characteristic of her, in this case a profound sense of a fragile moment cradled.
Desert Vagabond Trilogy- Jude is one of VF's newer pieces. I love the dynamic, tensed, almost dancing posture contrasted against the damage to the body and the almost drugged expression. This is marked as the first in a series; I'm looking forward to the rest.
Fever Dreams How could I not mention this one? A study in the varying faces of the Dark Side, expressions whispering at corruption, power, passion, rather than telegraphing them. It's been one of my favorites for years.
2.
More Precious Than Rubies is the definition of short and sweet, with words arranged like a footprint in sand or lips awaiting a kiss.
And I wrote is one of those aching poems I warned you about. It's an almost confessional piece, a gentle picture of those times we almost can't bring ourselves to dare to hope for something.
Inquisitor rounds out this handful of favorites, less for the display of power and performance of wonders by the title character, more for the glimpse of very human resignation underneath. After a while, it's just another day, isn't it?
3.
Amber This picture of the ever-lovely Amber Benson marks the first time the face in a piece of RMcC's work was instantly recognizable to me. The eyes and brows are particularly good in this one.
Iron Man Iron Man! Who doesn't like him. A bit of nerdiness in splashy color, this one just makes me happy. I'd like to see it revisited eventually.
Paging Ellen is his newest, and it shows: the work is more refined than a lot of his earlier ones. Great progress.
4.
For Three Years I Had Roses is an especially beautiful punch to the stomach: powerful, intense, painful. The theatrical framing and poster-like style serve as graceful allusions to both the subject's profession and the "vicious cabaret" of the comic. And, dear Lord, she did all this with -markers-!
The Fellowship of the Ring leaves me breathless with laughter. A special bit of love for the Gimli and Legolas cookies, as well as for the blissfully ignorant Boromir. I bet he was delicious.
Douglas Firn shows what we've known for a long time: that Lu rocks dynamic poses and splashy colors. Good stuff.
5.
Drahko is a great example of NinjaMasterTK's skill with building a distinctive face and armor design. Great details on this, from the sewing lines on the clothing to the small flecks of blood on the blade.
Cardamon Spear-Barer is another particularly fine one: excellent work on what musculature we see with very few lines, the face is fantastic, and the armor design's full of little practical considerations (check out the dagger on the boot to see what I'm talking about.) It doesn't hurt that I'm a strong proponent of kilts!
On The Walls of Fort Warrick Remember how I mentioned that I like NinjaMasterTK's gents much more than his ladies? This piece is the glowing, brilliant exception. Natural pose, clear and lovely facial lines, and great color.
6.
Scrape-away Tiger Forgive the indelicacy, but holy crap! I can't get over this. The detail, the amount of time necessary to carve each line out rather than draw it, the inability to fix a mistake...
Welcome to the Abbey has, for me, a fantastic sense of encroaching age, as though the viewer were sinking down into time.
Cats of Rhodes 7 An incredible capture, for the shadows as much as the little pink tongue!
7.
Kiss in Moonlight is a longtime favorite of mine: the lighting and old-school comic feel to it remind me of Lichtenstein. Elegant and dreamy.
Deadpool Noir is punchy, intense, and full of dangerous little details that make me feel like I should be describing it in little yellow boxes. Fantastic textures.
Under The Sea Okay, I'm cheating a bit; this piece comes from KS's newer account,
8.
Jenny A very delicate portrait of a Doctor Who character. Both tender and photographic, a rare combination.
HP - Charlie has a warm feel to it, a sense of pride and affection that goes nearly bone deep. I love the layered-on pencils; they give the piece a sort of smoky depth. Great textures, especially on the hair.
Right At Home is a fantastic bit of fanart for the second game in the KotOR series. Tankgirly does a great job bringing the focal character's personality through. The color pops all the more for the dense, detailed figures around her, like one live ember left in a heap of ash.
9.
Goblin Market 9 One of the latest pages from his Hidden Kingdom comic series, an educational set designed to teach school-age kids all sorts of disciplines in a fun way. This page comes from the Goblin Market storyline, which focuses on, holy crap, economics. Oh man it is like Christmas when one of these gets posted.
Sister of Battle is one of those pieces I periodically come back to and drool over. I love the detailed lines, the wild mechanical/organic combination gear design, the signs of heavy wear and tear, the sexy-yet-totally-functional armor...Look at this and tell me it's not a hot, HAWT piece of work.
Stilgelocht-Strika Drone Because who isn't crazy about robots with cute, dapper little backhoe feet? So adorable with its lovingly detailed carapace and shiny red sights. Oh and I guess you might like the detailed terrain painting and dramatic, tempestuous sky. Y'know, if you're into utterly awesome backgrounds.

Such talent. Such detail. Inspired coloration. An obvious grasp of light and shadow. And a natural Photoshop talent connecting your mind's eye to your mouse maneuvers.
Thank you for sharing your works with the world. May others of more import discover your art.

All hail and thank you mightily, O Goddess.
I got to see RE5 last night and I almost poo'd myself with fear. (I was too scared to play it myself, lol.) It was disturbing and the dialogue was silly and cheesy in every way I wanted. Yay.
